Prefer is a food tech start-up working to bring a new twist on a classic. Coffee, without the coffee bean. They are upcycling day old bread, okara and brewers spent grain and through proprietary fermentation and then roasting, they are creating a coffee bean substitute with approximately 10x less CO2 than traditional coffee.The two cofounders met at Entrepreneur First. Wanting to do something in the sustainable food space with fermentation, after a careful market study, they landed on bean free coffee.
