17: coaching with Ferrah
Before earning my degree in Psychology at Western Washington University, I always knew my career would be molded by my call to serve. My first volunteer position was at Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services (DVSAS). I supported woman during rape exams and connected with a few to become an on-going advocate where we meet periodically to aid in their healing. After graduating, I joined Teen Link as a Youth Suicide Specialist teaching stress management to youth across King County. We taught a record number of 8,000 students and faculty how to notice warning signs for suicide and tips on how to intervene in a caring way. Even after leaving Teen Link, I continued to volunteer as a supervisor for their peer-to-peer helpline. My passion for teaching did not end there, I moved my way up at the University of Washington School of Medicine to Director of Operations for Curriculum. My analytical and driven personality aided me well as I assisted in the schools first curriculum renewal founded in interactive learning.
As an attempt to maintain balance with my flourishing career, I began to practice yoga. After a short time practicing regularly, I fell in love with the flow and the elation I felt after class. It was the first time in my life where I was genuinely happy and my anxiety dissipated. I started to experience a dramatic improvement in my mood and relationships. Inspired to share this incredible practice with others, I choose Alchemy of Yoga founded by Silvia Mordini to complete my 200-hour yoga teacher certificate. Within months, I teamed up with Yoga Behind Bars and UW Mindfulness Program to offer mindfulness classes to youth. My teaching have always been infused with my effervescent personality, love of movement, and passion for making classes accessible to all levels. My coaching style is all about creating a lifestyle rooted in confidence, vibrancy and love. I want my clients to learn what generates joy within their mind, body and spirit. I’m not afraid of honest conversations, so our time will be unfiltered. We’ll dig deep to make sustainable shifts with a systemic approach. Over the course of 3 months, we'll develop a mind, body and soul connection within your professional or personal lives. Let’s define what brings you joy, create a structured plan to achieve your goals and develop concrete rituals that transform you from the inside out. Want to learn more?
