A Support Scam is one of The Four New Threats that I've identified.Viruses and trojans can never happen again, but the THREAT of them is the new scam. Scammers now implant advertisements on websites with scary, emotional sentences that claim you have viruses, trojans, etc.Their goal is to scare you into LETTING them break into your computer. I lured them into mine on purpose, to study and trace them. Their latest tactic is to break in, tell you innocuous things are actually hackers, and then "do a scan" of your bank accounts, which really meant looking for your passwords.Today's the first time I was able to keep one scam group busy for 1 hr 15 mins. One of them got so fed up with me, she admitted that all you need to do is turn off your computer to get out of the scary message. I got a couple other people to snap, which was great fun.No virus scan can ever detect a scary emotional sentence and a manipulative phonecall. AWARENESS is the only solution. Tell your friends!
