76. Women Finding Their Voice
Today we talk about the process of finding your voice. Why is it hard for us to use our voice? What are the stories around it and what do we do to speak up, be heard, feel heard and tell our truth? Today we discuss: -For much of history women have been silenced, ridiculed, punished, and even killed for their opinions and voices. -The wound of the patriarchy and the many reasons we have learned to swallow our truth. -The concept of gaslighting, which is the psychological manipulation that makes a person question their beliefs, sanity, and truths. -Betsy and Kate share their own personal stories of finding their voices and the barriers they have encountered along the way. They acknowledge that it is a process and a constant work in progress, but they highlight the power and freedom that comes from using their voices to express their authentic selves. -Throat problems can show up as the inability to speak up for yourself, swallowed anger, stifled creativity and a refusal to change. -Ways to use our voices to be the radical change we need right now. “I am constantly amazed at how courageous and radical speaking the truth is. The most activist thing you can do is just speak the truth and search for the truth, and just follow that trail.” —Melissa Ethridge “Stand firmly with what you know in your heart of hearts. Be exactly who you are unapologetically and with great passion and positivity, cultivate an inner courage to speak your truth and out of it action comes.” —Elizabeth Lesser Today’s champion: Judge Rosemarie Aquilina https://www.espn.com/espn/feat....ure/story/_/id/27156 Previous podcasts: Anger: Channel the Fire https://www.tendherwild.com/20....22/11/11/anger-chann Books mentioned: Cassandra Speaks by Elizabeth Lesser https://www.amazon.com/Cassandra-Speaks-Women-Storytellers-Changes/dp/0062887181/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1690550166&sr=8-1 You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay https://www.amazon.com/You-Can-Heal-Your-Life/dp/0937611018/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1FJNX5U7BTILT&keywords=you+can+heal+your+life+by+louise+hay&qid=1690551076&sprefix=You+c%2Caps%2C217&sr=8-1 Movie mentioned: Women Talking Written by Sarah Polley and Miriam Toews Directed by Sarah Polley https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13669038/ Article mentioned: Women, Here Are 10 Important Ways to Use Your Voice https://whatwillittake.com/ins....piration/women-here- Today’s episode sponsored by: Kate Moreland coaching: http://www.katemorelandcoaching.com Heartland Yoga: http://www.heartlandyoga.com Dr Yoga Momma:
