We recorded today's conversation in the conference room on the Our Health campus to talk with Jennifer Hall, Senior Director of Community Investment for United Way Northern Shenandoah Valley and Abby Zimmermann, Manager of Valley Assistance Network. Jennifer explained how Valley Assistance Network (VAN) fits into the United Way organization. We talked about the resources the agency is able to access and connect people to in all of the surrounding counties. Abby told us a few stories about the needs of people who contact the agency and the outcomes they've been able to produce. We talked about ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) families, their struggles and the opportunity to help during ALICE Awareness Week that happens November 28-December 2, 2022.
