Today’s trailblazing guest is my long-time friend, Kyle Ali. Kyle is an advocate for equal educational and workplace opportunities. He has led several large-scale initiatives to attract and develop black talent through his work at Google and the Black Googlers Organization. He is an adjunct professor at Villanova University, teaching diversity in a global economy, among many other roles. Kyle considers himself a work in progress. His focus over the last couple of years has been to help make the leadership of the organizations he’s worked with more representative of the communities they serve. Over the next couple of years, he’s going to work on bringing more affordable housing to Austin to continue to battle homelessness.Much of Kyle’s work has been to attract, develop, and retain a diverse workforce by making people feel seen and providing them with a path of opportunity that allows them to experience success and move forward towards their goals and aspirations.Through that work, Kyle has found that in order to really be of service he has to keep checking in with his true North. Does this opportunity align with the goals you’re working toward? It’s okay to say no. It’s important to keep your energy aligned in your different seasons so you have enough to give when there’s a health or family situation that comes up. Work can’t be the center of your universe. If you want to tune into the conversation, be sure to hit Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
