Is philosophy a useless subject with little practical value, or is it, as Ayn Rand argued, an indispensable practical necessity? Unlike many people today, Rand held that you cannot avoid accepting (and living by) answers to philosophic questions; your only choice is whether those answers are true or false, rational or irrational, reached by a disciplined process of thought or uncritically accepted from others.
