Ep. 17 | Systems Of Wealth w/ Perry Marshall
In the seventeeth episode of the Systems Of Wealth Podcast, I am joined by my friend and true modern-day renaissance man, Perry Marshall. Perry is an entrepreneur, author, speaker, consultant, scientist, engineer and artist (like I said - renaissance man). When people say "oh this guy wrote the book on blah blah blah", this time it's actually a fact. Perry wrote THE book on Google Ads. His Google book laid the foundations for the $400B digital advertising industry and is the world’s best selling book on internet advertising. He is also the founder of the $10 million Evolution 2.0 Prize, with judges from Harvard, Oxford, and MIT which is also the world’s largest science research award. His reinvention of the Pareto Principle is published in Harvard Business Review and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Labs uses his 80/20 Curve as a productivity tool so yeah - he's done and is doing some cool stuff. Together in this episode, we explore Perry's early stages as an entrepreneur, we cover a few of the Planet Perry terms like "drinking the pink kool-aid" and "renaissance time", we talk about his observations of navigating the different phases of entrepreneurship and we also dive deep into Perry's philosophy around personal development and my new favorite term I learned from him - doing the "heart" work. This was a conversation that will always be special to me for a lot of different reasons. It's been a surreal journey of reading Perry's books as a 20 year old, to then going to one of his first Facebook Ad workshops to then getting to be a fly on the wall at his high level Roundtable masterminds (thank you Scott Schang) to getting to host the Zero to $100k coaching program with him a few months ago and to now have had the opportunity to sit and do a podcast with him is something I will always be so incredibly grateful for. As you will see in the video, I was basically smiling the entire time. One of the greatest gifts Perry has given me is that he has taught me to think critically about myself and who I am, what I want out of my life, what I’m naturally good at and to then build the business around that. Those answers came from listening within myself rather than searching externally or needing outside validation. That has led to having true harmony between who I am as a person and how I show up in my business and in my life.To all my builders, I salute you 🚀
