Ep 3 - Antiracism in the 1970s

In this episode we explore 1970s Black Liverpool and Dorothy’s role as the first Community Relations Officer for the newly established Liverpool (later Merseyside) Community Relations Council. We investigate Dorothy’s pioneering national campaigns, including uncovering racism in children’s books with the Dragon’s Teeth project, and the banning of the golliwog from Robertson’s jam products. This episode includes interviews with project archivist Vicki Caren, filmmaker and activist Bea Freeman, as well Jean Tate, antiracist activist educator and early member of Teachers Against Racism.
