The façade of social media fame can be beguiling. But what happens when the lives of our favorite influencers unravel, revealing a disturbing and possibly criminal side? Ruby Frank, the once-celebrated YouTube personality and mommy blogger with an audience of 2.5 million, has come under intense scrutiny following troubling reports that hint at a horrifying reality behind her curated online presence.

In a recent episode of "Hidden Killers" with Tony Brueski, Neama Rahmani, an attorney and former Federal prosecutor, delved deep into the allegations surrounding Frank. The image painted was chilling: a child with wrists and ankles bound in duct tape fleeing to a neighbor’s house seeking help. This incident has raised eyebrows and sparked an avalanche of questions. Was this an outlier event, a misjudgment on Frank's part, or the tip of an iceberg revealing years of systematic abuse?

"Obviously these are just allegations, but if they're true, there's a special place in hell for people that abuse children, especially their own children," Rahmani commented. Drawing on his extensive background in prosecuting child abuse cases, Rahmani underscored the gravity of the situation. He mentioned the severity of the allegations and compared them to the worst cases he had encountered during his tenure as a prosecutor. "Sex crimes against children, production of child pornography, severe physical abuse... it's really sort of terrible stuff," he reflected.

But it’s not just Ruby Frank that is under the magnifying glass. Jody Hildebrandt, Frank’s business associate and friend, is implicated in the allegations. Both are being held without bail. The case has multiple facets: not only the criminal component of the alleged abuse but also the welfare of the children, who have been taken into protective custody.

The saga takes another twist with the husband's claim of ignorance about the abuse. While Ruby was residing with Jody Hildebrandt in a different state during the time of the allegations, questions loom about the husband’s potential complicity during the years of Frank’s mommy blogging. Rahmani illuminated a critical aspect of criminal law in this context: "This is one of those situations where you can be held criminally liable for a failure to act." He further elucidated that turning a blind eye is not a defense. Parents have an inherent duty to protect their children.

Considering the widespread reach of Frank's YouTube channel, Brueski raised a pertinent point, questioning how common such situations are where one parent might be the perpetrator and the other merely a silent observer, possibly living in fear. Rahmani noted that while scenarios differ, if abuse is taking place in a household, it's crucial to scrutinize both partners. "When you're dealing with a case like this with abuse of multiple kids, you gotta look at both spouses, no question," he emphasized.

Yet, as distressing as the allegations are, another layer of concern emerges: Why did authorities not act sooner? The couple’s adult daughter has reportedly been trying to draw attention to her family’s situation for some time. Despite a few visits by Child Protective Services (CPS), there was no substantial intervention. Rahmani lamented the inefficiencies of social services, citing issues of training, resources, and occasional negligence.

Are influential figures better equipped at hiding their dark secrets? "The parents are good, you know. Sexual assault, domestic violence, these are two of the most underreported crimes in the country," Rahmani observed. He stressed the challenges of prosecuting these crimes, particularly when they involve children, and underscored the magnitude of the issue, emphasizing the vulnerability of kids and the difficulty they face in reporting abuse, especially by their parents.

As the legal processes unfold, we're left to grapple with a stark truth about the inters
