In this edition of Easy Jazz Spotlight, host John Armato speaks with jazz vocalist, ambassador and educator Lisa Henry who began singing at age six, and turned professional at age 17 in the nightclubs of Kansas City. Lisa has been on tour with the great Herbie Hancock and has also performed with the likes of Anita Baker, Rosemary Clooney, Roy Hargrove, Wayne Shorter, Lou Rawls and many others. The legendary jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell said of Lisa: "Some got it, and some ain't. She's got it!". John talks to Lisa about her career, working with jazz legends, and surviving a brain aneurysm. But the interview starts with Lisa remembering her mentor, the late great Kansas City pianist and bandleader Everette DeVan.
