The cash-based medical practice isn't the best model in healthcare but it's the best one we have. I often catch myself wondering what legacy I'll leave behind; not that it's important to leave a legacy but I love the art of medicine and would love to leave it better than when I entered it or at least have a meaningful impact on it for everything that it's given me. A cash pay practice is one in which I deal with the patient directly. And building such a practice creates a community of like minded physicians who will likely be my fellow supporters.
