Let's Go Interview: Abaco Team
Abaco TeamOn September 1, 2019, the Abaco Islands were directly hit by Category 5 Hurricane Dorian. The storm was catastrophic, with one full minute sustained winds of 185mph, gusts of up to 220mph, and a 23ft storm surge. Dorian was the strongest hurricane to hit the Bahamas in recorded history, destroying everything in its path.Today, the Island is still struggling to rebuild even 4 years later. In January, Many Hands Impact arrived on the scene. In June, a team from Celebrate Church traveled with Many Hands Impact to Abaco to help with the continued work in the area. While there, the team worked hard on a community building (and other projects), exceeding expectations and finding more ways to help than the crew had even planned. LET'S GO!In this podcast, you'll hear from three of the team: Mike Caulkins, Russ Schneider, and Becky Woodside. They share a small bit of their trip experience with us and encourage more Celebrators to come and help in Abaco the next time the trip is offered. You can watch both the Sunday teaser video and the full length interview video here: Abaco InterviewLinksMany Hands ImpactCelebrate’s Team Updates (Blogs while on the trip)
