Minisode #3 - Green Roofs
Hello! This is Ethan, and welcome to the final episode of my minisode series for the Community Agriculture Project! To briefly introduce myself, I am a high school student passionate about environmental justice and law. In the first recording of my minisode series, I delved deeper into my personal experiences in the agricultural and environmental field, and in the second episode, I discussed different technologies created in response to climate change and how they relate to the way we adapt our agriculture practices. For this episode, I will be describing the advantages and disadvantages of using green roofs as opposed to traditional ones. The research I gathered on this topic has been absolutely fascinating, so I’m beyond excited and privileged to share what I’ve learned with you all.Since this is the last episode of this series, I would like to leave by giving special thanks to Emily Davis, creator of the Community Agriculture Project, for providing me this summer internship. I’ve learned so so so much about the agricultural landscape in the United States, and it has truly been a great ride doing research, curating blog posts, recording podcasts, and interviewing experts. Emily has been a mentor to me and I couldn’t be more grateful for the valuable knowledge, feedback, and genuine kindness she provided me with. I would also like to thank Iradatu Sulayman for being the sweetest coworker ever. Her dedication and passion for the environment has been of immense inspiration to me and will continue to be. And last but not least, thank you, Ladders for Leaders, for providing the opportunity for youth to gain professional experience every summer. If you would like to contact me regarding anything in this podcast episode, feel free to do so via my email ethanliu75@gmail.com.Here are some resources mentioned in this podcast episode:History of Green Roofs: https://www.optima.inc/a-brief....-history-of-the-gree Roof Research Article: https://journals.ashs.org/hort....sci/view/journals/ho Green Roofs: https://www.brooklyngrangefarm.com/ , https://www.urbanharveststl.org/ , https://www.seattleurbanfarmco.com/ , https://theroofcrop.com/ , https://greencitygrowers.com/ Rooflite: https://www.rooflitesoil.com/products/ Community Agriculture Project: https://www.communityagproject.com/
