Mirrors
I love the latest Disney version of the movie, The Lion King. In that movie, Simba, the lion, has grown from a cub to a full grown lion, but still lives with the guilt that he may have caused his father's death. Rafiki, the wise jungle counsel, takes him to a pool of water, encouraging him to look into the water. Simba says,"That's not my father, it's only my reflection." Rafiki says slowly, "Look harder." Suddenly, Simba sees his father's reflection emerge. Rafiki then tells him, "See, your father lives in you."As we look into our own mirrors, do we see those whose example we seek to follow? Do we see evidence of confidence resulting from doing hard things and becoming more because of the challenge? Or do we see a disappointed or self-critical person staring back at us?This week I encourage you to "look harder." See the person you want to see reflected back to you.
Thanks for listening!
