Naanu Ladies
We're continuing our month of LGBTQIA+ movies with our first ever Kannada language film, Naanu Ladies! This poignant drama follows two women, Anita and Padma, as they grapple with their identities as queer people, women, and artists. Can their love for one another transcend familial rejection, financial strife, and infidelity? Regardless, this movie leaves us with a lot to dissect, and it was fantastic to be swept away by a story told by a queer woman, for the queer community! Naanu Ladies was written and directed by Shailaja Padindala, who also stars in the film alongside Medini Kelamane. Like what you're hearing? Remember to follow us on Instagram @2whitegirlstalkbollywood. Wanna hear more? We have playlists on YouTube and Spotify. Each week, we pick our favorite songs from our movie, and add them to the playlists. Unfortunately the songs from this week’s film aren’t available on our usual platforms, so take this opportunity to listen/watch back to some of our other faves!
