One Water Race Team 3 - USA
Welcome to episode 189 of the Löw Tide Böyz - A Swimrun Podcast! We’ve got an epic show for everyone that is only fitting because the topic is an epic race, namely, the second edition of the One Water Race. This ultra-distance 250km adventure Swimrun is taking place from August 22th through the 24th and joining us to talk about the event is Team 3 - USA: Alyssa Godesky, Jarrod Shoemaker, Kristen Smith and Steve Keller. This was a fun conversation recorded on the eve of their journey to Sweden to take on “the ultimate proof of human capacity”...again.But first…Training UpdateWe are smack in the middle of our last build for our second pilgrimage to ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship, taking place on Sept. 4th. The volume has been high, the swims have been hard and the run volume keeps climbing and our Swimrun practices are getting more ridiculous. We’re feeling good and looking forward to the blessed taper in a few weeks but in the meantime we have a 5-hour Swimrun followed by a 3-hour trail run the following day. Fun times!ShoutoutThis week we’re shouting out our latest Patrons on Patreon. Thank you Diana Olveira and Emily St. Germain for your support. We are truly humbled by everyone that supports our brand of super niche content.Feats of EnduranceThis week we are giving antecedent awards to everyone heading towards Norway this weekend for the 2023 edition of Rockman. We have a small but mighty delegation heading there from the U.S. including Matt and Sarah, Trista and Amy, Marcus and others. God speed!Make sure to sign up for our LTBz Strava Club and join Swimrunners from around the world as they train for stuff.Wisdom Nugget of the Week“The proof you can do hard things is one of the most powerful gifts you can give yourself." -Nat EliasonShow BusinessThere’s still time to get your nutrition strategy sorted in time for ÖTILLÖ by our friends at Precision Fuel and Hydration. As a refresher, the One Water Race is a point-to-point adventure race covering the entire Stockholm Archipelago with a total distance of 250km–with 50km of that being swimming. In this conversation we chatted with the team about their experience at the race last year, how they are preparing for this year, and so much more. If anyone wants to see the drama first hand, make sure to follow the live broadcast available at onewaterrace.com.Finally, if you want more One Water Race content, check out our interview with Race Director Thomas Ogander here in 2021 and our four part-series recapping the 2022 edition of the race here, here, here, and here.Enjoy!~~~
