In our work with law enforcement and fire and rescue, conflict, sometimes the lack thereof or the inability to deal with it are the largest issues. Without the ability to confront a rogue cop, or a firefighter with integrity problems, (yes, there are ethics violations in fire and rescue) well, issues fester and we see what happens when they hit the news. The key to solving these issues not just in public safety but in all organizations and in our politics is early intervention by peers in a firm but respectful way. We call it Positive conflict. This is a program that we conduct and along with our Ethics program they are foundational to cultural change.Listen and enjoy how conflict can indeed be an asset in your organization.
