Hua Cheng transfers all of his spiritual energy into Xie Lian, breaking his cursed shackles and giving him the strength to defeat Jun Wu. However this causes Hua Cheng to burst into thousands of butterflies, leaving Xie Lian all alone. The rest of the heavenly officials deal with the aftermath of Jun Wu and work on rebuilding the heavenly capital. After a year of waiting, Hua Cheng returns to Xie Lian and they share an emotional reunion.
