Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, the lists began appearing after the hackers had demanded a ransom fee to stop the posting of the information online. Medibank has refused to pay the amount because it did not want to encourage further criminal acts. The details released include names, birthdates, Medicare numbers and addresses.
