The Taliban government in Afghanistan is constructing a water canal in the northern part of the country. It's the first major construction project since the group took power in Afghanistan in 2021. The canal will bring water down from the Amyu Darya River to help raise crops in a water-starved region. The World's host Marco Werman speaks with Jennifer Brick Murtazashvili, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh, about how the canal is being constructed and what it means for Afghanistan and the region.
