The Abundance

Many of us reflexively believe that when things are going well God is pleased with us and when things are not going good, God is not happy. But we are never promised an easy life--such as is taught by those claiming a prosperity -name it and claim it- false gospel. Rather, we are told seek him first and reminded, like the Psalmist, 'give me neither poverty nor riches.' An abundant life does not the Lord's blessing just as a sparse and difficult life doe not indicate the Lord's displeasure. Life is hard, full of challenges, disappointments, trials, and struggles. Often we don't look back and reflect on the blessings that God gives during those hard times. And sometimes we never see the blessings -the excess- until later, and some never until we receive our eternal reward.
