The Creation of the PWHL ft. Jayna Hefford
The Professional Women's Hockey League has officially begun to take shape, with the inaugural Draft already having taken place and teams beginning to get filled out in six cities around North America - Donnovan brings on The Hockey News' Ian Kennedy to take a look back at the Draft, including which teams have made themselves into contenders right away, the free agent market, and also to discuss how this league can learn from what came before. Afterwards, PWHL Sr. VP of Hockey Operations and Hockey Hall of Famer Jayna Hefford stops by to chat what went into the league's creation. Donnovan and Jayna discuss the thought process behind choosing these specific six cities to start, the support from owners and players, and what the lasting legacy of the PWHPA will be. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
