The Father's House

Luke records some of Christ's boyhood, which is unique to his Gospel. In the text before us, Jesus is 12 years of age and accompanied His parents to Jerusalem to observe the Passover and Fiest of Week. The purpose of this event is to demonstrate that Jesus understood His unique relationship to God, His Father. He needed to correct His mother's understanding of their relationship. When they did find Jesus on their return trip, they came back to Jerusalem to search for Him, but after three days were surprised to find Him in the Temple. He needed to inform her that that is where they should have sought Him first. His priority in life was the Father and His business. What is your priority.
