The Handmaid of the Lord

Luke shifts back and forth between John the Baptist and Jesus in three areas, -1- the announcement by Gabriel of their coming births, -2- their being born, and -3- their introduction to Israel to announce and minister the Kingdom of God. These alternations come together in convergence in order to show their respective roles in the one grand purpose of God to introduce His Kingdom on earth via the New Covenant. John was the final OT prophet whom God used to introduce the long-expected Messiah who would introduce the New Covenant providing the power to live out the will of God on earth.
