The Seven Sorrows of Mary The Seven Sorrows of Mary. Deacon Dave reflects on Our Lady of Seven Sorrows celebrated on September 15th. Just as Mary is the mother of Jesus, she is mother to all his followers, she is mother to us, especially the mothers of today. St. Louis de Montfort said, “if you put the love of all mothers into one heart it still would not equal the love of Mary for her children.” The seven sorrows are: 1. The Prophesy of Simion 2. The Flight into Egypt 3. The Loss of the Child Jesus 4. Mary Meets Jesus on the Way to Calvery. 5. The Crucifixion of Jesus 6. The Body of Jesus taken down from the Cross. 7. The Burial of Jesus. The Blessed Mother knows the sorrow of today’s mothers. She connects with them heart to heart. Mothers of today can turn to Our Blessed Mother in both their joys and their sorrows. DEACON DAVID HOCKWALT was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of San Bernardino in 2012. He continues in active ministry today and is the spiritual advisor to the vicariate Life in the Spirit team. We pray that today may be a special day in your life as you experience the presence of Jesus Christ among us through this reflection. Magnificat, taken from Luke: 1, is the great hymn of praise that Mary prayed while visiting her cousin, Elizabeth. We trust that this reflection will help us all better understand that we are truly children of God, made in His image and likeness. We want to come together in God’s presence and proclaim that the Almighty has done great things for you and me and holy is His Name!
