The Singing Machine
In this, the second episode of the Parson and the Songmen, we join the Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould as he starts the task of collecting the old folk songs of his native Devon. After early difficulties in tracking down any songs his luck changes when he encounters a local thatcher and hedger, James Parsons, who due to the sheer number of songs that he knew was called ‘The Singing Machine’.Many thanks to John Kirkpatrick for playing concertina on the podcast intro and outro music.
Also to Jon Tidball who is the podcast series producer - jontidball@hotmail.co.uk.

Please visit the facebook page for these podcasts - The Parson and the Songmen
https://www.facebook.com/people/The-Parson-and-the-Songmen/100093220748945/

Also thimblerigg videos on YouTube for more songs collected by The Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=thimblerigg+videos

You can also contact me at thimblerigg@yahoo.co.uk for information about my CD with John Kirkpatrick, recorded at The Eden Project, 'By Chance It Was'.
