The United Nations Population Fund UNFPA commemorates World Population Day

Although women and girls make up 49.7 per cent of the global population, their desires for their lives, families and careers are often ignored in discussions on demographics and their rights violated in population policies. This is according to the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA.The organisation is raising awareness on issues around gender inequality, in commemoration of World Population Day - annually observed on 11 July.
