Paul asserted a right to boast because everything the false -super apostles- contended to prove their superiority over Paul was something Paul, himself, could prove true of his own apostleship. If fact, Paul was better. He did not boast in order to promote his own ego, but in order to provoke the thinking of the church he had espoused to Christ. They were in danger of deserting the true Bridegroom for a false Christ. His opponents were servants of Satan and they were deceiving the church. Paul sought to win them back to the truth and the Truth.
