Trick or Treat
The night is dark and full of terrors. A creaky floorboard in the middle of the night is enough to wake us from peaceful slumber and curse our minds with images of spirits and ne’er-do-wells. A howling wind might remind us that beyond our fragile straw walls the wolves hunt for blood. A black bat fluttering from a black sky might be hunting for flies, but it eludes to the possibility of other dark things lurking in the abyss of blackness. And a knock at the door at midnight might best be left unanswered; finding a Freddy Krueger or even a Minion behind the door would be the most terrifying thing in the world. Except on one night. Any other night, a stranger at the door asking for food would be scary; your property value might be slipping. But on Halloween it is a celebration. The children come out for treats. But what became of the promised, ‘Trick?’ Join Veronique and Mat as we summon the ancient spectral history of Trick-or-Treat! *Grumbles are specifically off-the-cuff, no research went into this grumble. ____________________ Send us Treats!
