(This is mostly a Japanese thing, says Victor: he’s a little hesitant to make sweeping generalizations about entire countries, but Aaron says it’s just the American way.) But what makes a ‘perfect’ fruit? Aaron cites a study that claimed to find the “funniest joke of all time,” but really only found a mildly amusing joke that satisfied the most people without turning anyone off. Is this another example? Victor says no: it’s more about the amount of work that went into creating the fruit. (The labor theory of value, in other words? Aaron’s heard that one before.)
