#015 - Paws to Reflect: A Heartfelt Conversation with a Pet Bereavement Counselor on her Business Journey
Today's episode is soul-nourishingly good. I’m chatting with Tracey Woods, a proud Veterinary Nurse who has been working in the animal industry for over 30 years. She is an active volunteer on the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia (VNCA), which provides continued education and allows nurses to improve their skills and knowledge. She loves to meet like-minded colleagues, so she will take any opportunity to learn from others. After some “not so good” experiences with the euthanasia of her own pets, Tracey discovered there was a real lack of support around losing a furry family member. After some further study, she became a Counsellor, specialising in Pet Loss. Today we launch straight into grief and loss, with conversations about what to say and what not to say to someone who has lost their beloved fur baby. We discuss ways in which you can support yourself through grief, and Tracey shares some super interesting insights into the growth and success of her business which she has had for eight years now. She shares one of her biggest challenges and how she overcame it. I know this will be extremely relevant to anyone listening who runs service-based businesses. Settle in for this beautiful open, and honest chat with Tracey. Tracey Woods - Cert IV Veterinary Nursing, RVN, AVN, Dip Couns “It’s not just a pet” - Dog, bird, fish, cat, rabbit, ferret, horse. They are all an important part of our lives, and we shouldn’t feel ashamed or embarrassed if we are upset about their passing. Tracey understands the bond we have with our animals is so very different and special, and they can not be replaced by ‘getting another one.” Tracey works alongside vets and pet crematoriums to provide one on one or support groups in Perth.
