101: Preventing Diabetes with Telehealth
How are organizations preventing diabetes with telehealth? We’ve talked a bit on the show about telehealth, remote therapeutic monitoring, and digital health. But, all of those conversations focused on treating diseases or serving patients who experienced symptoms or limitations. But, is there a way to focus on prevention? Payers don’t necessarily prioritize preventative services; at least, not historically. That seems to be changing now. However, some organizations have begun focusing on preventative services, especially for chronic or long-term conditions such as diabetes. Some innovative companies have leveraged technology to focus on Preventing Diabetes with Telehealth. So, this week, I sit down with Laurence Girard from FruitStreet Clinic. They deliver the Diabetes Prevention program by the Ceneters for Disease Control (CDC) via telehealth. What we cover in this Episode: Implementing technology for preventative services and programs Patient engagement on digital health platforms Funding & revenue models for preventative services Effectiveness of digital vs. in-person services Barriers to adopting new technology in the clinic Achieving Better Outcomes through preventing diabetes with telehealth We’re starting to create videos of certain podcast episodes, including this episode, which can find on the YouTube Channel.
