11. The Reality of Reiki

In this episode of Is This Sh!t Legit? we talk about the magic of Reiki, AKA universal life force energy. If you've never experienced a Reiki treatment, this episode peels back the curtain to give you a solid understanding of what actually goes on in a session.  We explore the history and origins of this healing technique, the intentions behind it and how it works. Although Reiki is a relatively new healing modality, it has a likeness to the laying on of hands, which is an ancient form of healing. Just like anything, the experience you receive in a Reiki session will depend on the practitioner you see. Reiki complements and even amplifies any existing gifts a practitioner may have, so how any one practitioner connects with and shares it will be very personal.  Heather shares her story of how Reiki was her introduction into the world of energy healing and how that's informed her journey to becoming a practitioner.  Keri asks the tough questions to get to the bottom of things as we delve into the topics of cultural appropriation and scams in the healing industry. We come to the conclusion that Reiki is the fiber of healing. It's not intended to cure, but works great as a supplement.
