Abraham, Part 1 - 7.2.2023

God says "I am good-I love you - I have a plan!"Genesis 12:1-3 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”I marvel at the obedience of Abram. He does not know what lies ahead of him. All he knows is that obedience to God is better than anything his own hands could every build.Foreigner (not the band)Already, Not Yet: Abram had already received the promise, but he was not yet in possession of it. In fact, Abram would spend the rest of his life living as a foreigner in the place of God’s promise. He would never take possession of it. Nor did his Son or Grandson. After this awe-inspiring moment of Promise from God, Abram goes on a crazy journey that sends him all over the place. God’s Plan (sometimes) Is In Tents!Why go through it?There are two reasons that we find to endure. One is found in the statement of Abraham’s faith that we read in Hebrews 11. The other is found in Jesus’ challenge to his disciples.God’s plan is BIGGER than here and now!
