Dear Friends, The Rev. Dr. Amy Butler is a master at facing reality and claiming leadership. Truly. In her newly released memoir, Beautiful and Terrible Things: Faith, Doubt, and Discovering a Way Back to Each Other, she weaves together what is real and messy and hard with what is true and hopeful and redemptive, reminding us that the journey of faith is inextricably all those things. In a culture that often tells us that who-we-are is not enough and thereby invites us to hide our truest self (be it as an individual, a leader, a faith community, or people group), Pastor Amy says: “It’s too much work to be someone else! I surrender. I’ll just be who I am.” Which in a very real way, is just the beginning of the turbulent adventure of faith and doubt and belonging.  In our conversation with Pastor Amy, we get to experience a powerful leader, whose vulnerability and honesty offer a witness of the kind of leadership our beautiful (and terrible) world needs today. I hope you find it inspiring as you seek to navigate and lead in this season! By the grace of God, may it be so!LisaShow Notes
