“Life is short.” “Seize the day.” For thousands of years people have known that their lives have an end date. But knowing your priorities and living by them are two different things. When Harry Chapin sang “Cats in the Cradle” about a father who never made time for his son, it hit a chord. But the idea extends beyond family. How many people have looked back on their lives and wishes they had spent more time on the things that mattered most, whether that be friendships, being generous, or serving God? Thousands of years ago Moses said: “teach us to number our days that we might get a heart of wisdom.” Knowing your time on earth is limited should compel us to live wisely. This sermon on Psalm 90 explores the eternity of God, the brevity of life, and what wisdom looks like when time is running out. Wisdom is doing what’s right with the time you have left.
