Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) will be holding their first live audio described tour for blind and partially sighted people with the Top of Each Ripple by Manuel Solano on Wednesday 3 November 2022 at 6pm.

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey recently caught up with Kay Hamlyn, Exhibitions Assistant at Dundee Contemporary Arts and artist and describer Juliana Capes who will be leading the live AD tour to find out more about DCA and their first live audio described tour.

DCA is an internationally renowned centre for contemporary arts and a cultural hub for everyone. Kay began by giving a bit of background to DCA and their current and future plans around access for everyone.

Kay and Juliana then talked about the work of Berlin-Based Mexican artist Manuel Solano and how The Top of Each Ripple will be the first solo UK exhibition of their  work although they have exhibited at DCA before in group exhibitions.

Juliana also outlined how the live audio described tour would work and what blind and partially sighted people could expect from coming to the live audio described tour with some brief description of Manuel’s work which will be on display in the exhibition. of

Manuel Solano has been making work across different media for many years, but their practice transformed completely in 2014 when they lost their eyesight due to a HIV-related illness. This exhibition showcases some of the artist’s video works alongside twelve of their large-scale paintings.
