We have all heard of generational curses. But did you know that a growing body of research finds that it is possible for trauma to pass through generations? This research implies that the experiences of your ancestors can have real impact on your physical and mental health. This phenomenon is known as intergenerational transmission of trauma. Research in this area dates back to the 1960's when scientists were studying the effects of the Holocaust on descendants of survivors. In this week's episode, hosts Ingrid Cockhren and Mathew Portell will discuss intergenerational transmission of trauma within families, including their own. Cockhren and Portell will discuss how its possible for trauma to be passed on and what can be done to mitigate the impact of intergenerational transmission of trauma on families. Please join us!
