Engaging In Gossip
What is it about gossip that gets so many people interested? Is it the thrill of hearing news about someone else that shocks us? Is it the delight of hearing how bad someone else is dealing with financial or marital difficulties and that hearing these things makes us feel better about ourselves? Or is it the opportunity to compare ourselves to someone else to see in our minds how much better we are than them? The truth is...it is all of those reasons and more.Yet what matters most is that it is not Christian. The Bible says, Proverbs Chapter Twenty-One, Verse Twenty-three, “Whoever keeps his mouth, and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.” Gossip is a practice we should do whatever we can to avoid. Tune into this podcast as Art explains why we gossip, why so many people enjoy gossip, the harm it causes, and how we can prevent it.
