Episode 43: Hibsen
For today's episode, I'll be joined by Jim Murphy and Gráinne Hunt of the band Hibsen! Each of them are extremely talented muscians, you may know Jim from his work from fronting his band Blue Fish Diamond and you may know Gráinne from her solo work as a contemporary nu folk singer/songwriter.They've come together to form the band Hibsen and have recently released their debut album, The Stern Task of Living.'The Stern Task of Living' is an album inspired by the work of James Joyce, with each song on the album is taken from his collection of short stories in 'Dubliners'.Having recently played as a part of Bloomsday and putting on a fantastic show in Smock Alley Theatre, it was a real pleasure having them on. This episode will be a little different to the normal structure as the band have very generously allowed me to sprinkle parts of the album throughout this episode, so you get a real feeling for how beautiful the music is.On top of that, there is a live performance of 'Eveline' at the end of the episode that the band recorded in studio.I hope you enjoy the episode!Hibsen Bandcamp: https://hibsen.bandcamp.com/In the Midst of Plenty tickets: https://www.inthemidstofplenty.com/tourBlue Fish Diamond Bandcamp: https://bluefishdiamond.bandcamp.com/Gráinne Hunt's website: www.grainnehunt.com
