The hotel was home to some of the richest people in New York and the men targeted the hotel's vault filled with safety deposit boxes belonging to the residents. After 2.5 hours the men left with an estimated $28 million (over $200 million in today's value). The men conducted the robbery with perfect precision and not a single person was harmed.
