Episode 99 - Home As A Hobby
I came across a quote recently that postulated the idea of our homes as our hobby. A place of beauty to be learned, grown, and perfected over time not in dimensions but in depth of character and soul. It struck me as a timely warning with all of the other stuff I've been doing to get our home into a better order, a home organized for the way we live and the people that live within it. Just like with a hobby, you are never done. You enjoy working on it and savoring the tasks of perfecting it. Do you view your home that way? As a military kiddo and all the other moves on top of it, home was a transitory idea. To have a place become more than just a resting spot or a way station wasn't really a concept for me, but life and the teachings it presents were summarized well in this quote by Arnold Bennett. May you begin to find your home a good hobby to pursue. May you realize the mission field you have within the walls you live in, the people who reside therein and the ability you have to enjoy the process of perfecting this home one small or large detail at a time. It'll never be completed and that's okay! Enjoy the journey.
