Exposing The MYTH of The Free Market | Naomi Oreskes
Naomi Oreskes is the Henry Charles Lea Professor of the History of Science at Harvard University.
She is the author of many books, including Why Trust Science?, The Collapse of Western Civilization, Merchants of Doubt (upon which an acclaimed documentary was based), and, her most recent work, The Big Myth.
Professor Oreskes is a veritable mine of information (forgive the pun!)
After obtaining degrees in Geology and the History of Science, Professor Oreskes worked in the mining industry. She then entered the field of academia, in which she’s held various distinguished positions.
My conversation with Professor Oreskes was a fast-paced, thought-provoking delight! I think you’ll agree.
In it, we discuss:
The “Big Myth”; Free Market capitalism; Government regulation; Market fundamentalism; The fallacy of the excluded middle; The Depression; The New Deal; Climate Change; Global Warming; The future of electric vehicles; The minerals required to build batteries; Sustainability; The car you should be driving if you want to be “green”; If our investments in “green energy” have been worth it; How to study multiple fields: economics, politics, science; Disinformation; Conservatives and Progressives; Distrust in our institutions…
And MUCH More!
