Genesis 15:6 NIV 6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. 3 Characteristics of Faithfulness Found in Abraham That We Can Mimic Today 1. His Confidence Genesis 12:1-4 NIV 1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. 2. His Conduct James 2:20-21 NKJV 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 3. His Carry On James 2:22-23 NKJV 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. Questions: 1. What does the word faithful mean to you? When you hear that word, who or what comes to your mind? 2. How does the idea of God being a loving father resonate with you? 3. Part of faithfulness is not giving up. Describe an experience in your life where this played out. What did you learn?
