She moved to Berlin for trade school where she met her husband, and later migrated to the US for a better life. She raised her family in Washington DC and later moved back to Berlin where they witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Her family continued to move back and forth between the US and Germany, and My Alma loved to travel. She made a final trip to Germany in late 2021 before passing away peacefully in her sleep.
