Frontier Energy (ASX: FHE) managing director Sam Lee Mohan joins Small Caps to discuss the company’s recent signing of a hydrogen development collaboration agreement with Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNG) owner AGIG. The companies have agreed to work together to investigate the potential injection of an agreed percentage of hydrogen into the Mainline South section of the DBNGP. The end result would see the pair making joint submissions to the relevant WA Government departments. The WA Government has set a goal of up to 10% hydrogen being blended with natural gas across the state’s gas network. Both Federal and State governments are in the process of amending national gas laws and regulations to bring hydrogen blends within the national gas regulatory framework. Recently, industry body, Smart Energy Council completed a pre-certification for a zero carbon certification scheme at Frontier Energy’s Bristol Springs renewable energy project in Western Australia. The pre-certification was based on a review of Frontier’s definitive feasibility study in March of this year for Bristol Springs and assessed all direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production and storage of renewable hydrogen.
