Hebrews 13:7-9, 17-19. Mutual Joy through Faithful Leadership

Hebrews 13 teaches us what it looks like to follow Christ. What are the characteristics of Christians? Christians show love to each other and to strangers. They care for the mistreated. They hold marriage in high honor. They live content with what they have. They enjoy the security they have in Jesus. And our text this week shows that they respond to authority. In our day and age, authority is always suspect. But God has chosen to use leadership in the church as a means to keep his people in the faith, and so mutual joy is experienced through faithful submission to faithful leadership.
