Terry and Marjorie O’Dowd Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, Madden Funds and Flood Brothers Disposal present the Hibernian Radio Hour for a special recording at Quigley’s Irish Pub in Naperville and this week we welcome Terry and Marjorie O’Dowd. Terry and Marjorie are Co-Chairs of the Naperville Irish Fest – West Suburban Irish. This is the festival’s 3rd year and it will take place on September 22-23 at Naperville Central Park. Tickets are $10 (kids 12 and under are free) and can be purchased here! There will be great entertainment guaranteed from dance groups and bands such as The Larkin & Moran Brothers and The Chancers, as well as kids activities including games and face-painting. “It’s a very family-friendly fest”. Terry & Marjorie mention how great the Park District and local Police have been in helping set up and safely run the festival and they also give a special shout-out to their kind sponsors, including one of our own – Flood Brothers! There will be a special Whiskey Tasting at Quigley’s on Saturday at 2pm with Tullamore Dew followed by another tasting at 6pm with Jameson and reservations for these special events can be made online. They also mention the great things West Suburban Irish do around the community including quiz nights on Tuesdays at Quigley’s along with their monthly trad sessions too. Terry and Marjorie tell Houli the story behind how they met and even went to prom together. This wonderful couple dive into the reason behind establishing the festival which was mainly “to have fun and drive home our Irish culture”. They discuss their upcoming trip to Dublin in the Fall and share some of their favorite places to visit in the Emerald Isle including the Knock Shrine. They go on to talk about their family; 3 kids and 6 grandkids, and they share the story of attending their son’s beautiful wedding in Colombia. We’re delighted to have this lovely couple on the show this week so make sure you get out and support Naperville Irish fest! We take a long musical break with “Don’t Let The Truth Get In The Way (Of A Good Story)” by Gaelic Storm followed by “Green and Red of Mayo” by The Saw Doctors. Houli then brings us up to date on some upcoming events including The Emerald Society’s halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Party on September 9th at the FOP Lodge 7. We head over to the recent obituaries followed by a quick-trip to ‘Houli-Town’ to end another great show this week!
