Hibernian Radio Podcast, Sat. August 19, 2023
Jeff Lange Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, Madden Funds and Flood Brothers Disposal present the Hibernian Radio Hour for a special ‘Best Of’ show. Houli begins by taking a look back over the history of this podcast and we look forward to our newest recording location at The Beacon Pub in Forest Park. This week we dive into the vault and take a look back at our first interview with our dear friend, Jeff Lange. Jeff is a retired 30-year veteran of the Cook County Sheriff’s Police and was born and raised in Bridgeport. He is currently the 1st Vice-President of the Emerald Society and has served as a Board Member for the past 9 years. Jeff started out as the bouncer at Shenanigans in the early ‘80’s and eventually started his career at Cook County Jail before going to work for the Sheriff’s police. He did most of his work in Narcotics, Undercover and in the Metropolitan Enforcement Group where he worked all over the state. He tells us some great stories and it’s all fascinating stuff, particularly when he went undercover to investigate and arrest “murder for hires”. Jeff tells Houli, “It was fun!” He’s a funny guy as well and tells us of the great honor bestowed on him when he was asked to carry the US flag with The Emerald Society in Dublin in 2015 for their St. Patrick’s Day parade. Houli shares some Kerrygold cheese with Jeff before coming to the end of their interview. Great memories to look back on on this week’s special ‘Best Of’ show. We go to a musical break with “Streets Of New York” by The Chancey Brothers. Houli then brings us up to date on some upcoming events including The Emerald Society’s halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Party on September 9th and our upcoming Annual Irish American Movie Hooley next month. We head over to the recent obituaries followed by some more music with “Faithful Land” by Gaelic Storm. Then we take one final trip to our favorite place called ‘Houli-Town’.
